Here are some example sentences that could be useful when speaking/ writing about the environment. If you do not know any of the vocabulary in these sentences, then make sure you look them up in the dictionary and add them to your vocabulary record - and then, keep learning and learning.

Governments have to come together to discuss what can be done to protect the environment.
The environment is increasingly threatened by modern-day living.
The environment should be a matter of priority for all countries around the world, before it is too late.
Pollution:
There are many different types of pollution, including water, air, noise and land.
Many companies dispose of waste materials in the rivers and the sea, thus polluting the water and killing animals and plants.
With the constant increase in the number of cars and factories, levels of pollution are rising all around the world.
Environmentalists:
Environmentalists are very opinionated people who strongly believe in protecting the environment.
These people go out and protest against those companies and organisations who are contributing to the greenhouse effect and systematically destroying our environment.
Often environmentalists stand for long periods of time outside companies and organisations that are non-environmentally friendly.
Natural disasters:
There are various types of natural disaster, including earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, hurricanes, fires and more.
Natural disasters can lead to the destruction of homes and infrastructures as well as to the loss of lives.
Large-scale natural disasters can be catastrophic for the environment and for the people affected.
Natural resources:
The fossil fuels of petrol, coal and natural gas are natural resources but they are limited and non-renewable so they will eventually run out.
The earth’s natural resources are disappearing at an alarming rate so scientists and engineers urgently need to find alternative energy sources.
Humans have exhausted the planet of its natural resources.
Global warming:
The drastic increase in industry and burning of fuels has resulted in soaring levels of gases being released into the atmosphere, thus adding to global warming.
The higher temperatures due to global warming are melting the polar ice caps causing a rise in sea levels and destroying the natural habitat of many wild animals.
According to scientists, global warming is creating a massive hole in the o-zone layer, which could be disastrous for mankind in future years.
